Recovery of Tellurium from Waste Anode Slime Containing High Copper and High Tellurium of Copper Refineries

Tellurium is used in cadmium tellurium-based solar cells. Mercury telluride as a sensing material for thermal imaging devices. High-purity tellurium alloys electronic applications. It one of the important raw materials energy an alloying element production low-carbon steel and copper alloys. catalysts are chiefly oxidation organic compounds vulcanizing/accelerating agents processing rubber compounds. Even though several researchers tried to recover from different materials, there no attempt develop process flow sheet waste anode slime having high concentration. In this study, optimum conditions were developed Te Cu with composition Cu: 31.8%, Te: 24.7%, As: 0.96%. The unit operations involved leaching, purification, electro winning. producing at recovery 90% found be roasting 450 °C without addition soda ash followed by leaching 1 M NaOH 10% pulp density 2 h. purity metal achieved was up 99.99%, which could provide sustainable future. major impurities observed order: Se > Sb As Cu.
